Brison Shelton

FOUNDER + DIRECTOR,

REleased-NOLA

Brison Shelton is the Founder and Director of REleased-NOLA Reentry Program,
where he leads initiatives that support young adults transitioning from incarceration
back into the community. Drawing from his own lived experience and professional
background, Brison brings both empathy and expertise to his work with justice-impacted
individuals.

Justice-impacted since the age of 17, Brison has personally navigated and persevered
through nearly every barrier associated with reentry—often with little to no support from
the justice system. These experiences have shaped his deep commitment to ensuring
others receive the guidance, resources, and opportunities he had to fight to find on his
own.

With extensive experience as a Case Manager, Crisis Counselor, Peer Support
Specialist, and Employment Specialist, Brison has helped countless individuals
secure documentation, employment, and educational opportunities. His work focuses on
breaking down barriers to reentry and fostering long-term stability and success for
returning citizens.

Brison holds a Bachelor’s in Social Work, an Associate’s in Addiction Counseling,
and is a certified Peer Support Specialist and Employment Specialist. A passionate
advocate for social justice and mental health, he frequently shares his story at public
events to inspire others and promote systemic change.

Through REleased-NOLA, Brison continues to transform his personal journey into
purpose-driven leadership—empowering others to heal, rebuild, and thrive beyond
incarceration.
